The new collection by Jaclyn Hill is taking the internet by storm. Find out if it lives up to the hype in our review!
The YouTube star, Jaclyn Hill just launched her second makeup collaboration with Morphe: The Vault . The previous Jaclyn Hill palette was a HUGE hit which set the standard very high for this second collection. This was a highly anticipated launch but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations.
The Vault includes four palettes: Ring the Alarm , Dark Magic , Bling Boss and Armed & Gorgeous. The collection retails for $50 or $15 each if you decide to buy the palettes separately. The colors range from deep dark green to golden shimmers. The colors are gorgeous and the packaging is very beautiful. I was extremely excited to create new looks with The Vault.
Each palette is different and various looks can be created by just using one palette. Upon opening the package, my favorite palette was Bling Boss which is featured in the third picture above. When I used this collection I found some major cons and a few pros.
Let’s start with the bad news.
- The matte shadows in the collection are VERY difficult to blend out
- The matte shadows are not very pigmented
- Some shadows move when blending with a brush
Now onto the good news.
- The color range is very broad
- Most shimmery tones work perfectly
- It is an affordable price for a lot of palettes
I LOVED the colors but the formula of the shadows is simply inadequate. The matte shadows are extremely hard to work with and are very patchy. The shimmer tones on the other hand are completely different. Those tones are gorgeous and work beautifully.
Overall, I think that these are not the best shadows but for the price are an “okay” value. This is definitely not a product I would say you NEED to go get. There are many other palettes that you can get for the same value with a better formula. I would recommend to save your $50 and find something else you’ll absolutely love.
